THE CITY I FELL IN LOVE WITH
MALAGA (PART II)
After visiting the fascinating Alcazaba fortress, tired and hungry, we decided to look for a restaurant where we could have lunch and try some Spanish food and drink. Walking around the restaurants, we were attracted by a restaurant with an interesting design "Pez Wanda", where we decided to sit down and have lunch. We each ordered a local Cruzcampo beer on tap, which we liked a lot, and I ordered a Wanda salad, a typical Spanish potato salad, with mayonnaise, prawns and black olives as a starter. Vernessa decided to skip the starter and go straight to the main course, play it safe and ordered the grilled chicken in carbonara sauce with a grilled salad. But the waitress didn't understand me well when I wanted to order paella with chicken as a main dish, because it's a portion for two people and I wanted to order it just for me. After the salad I waited for about 10-15 minutes to get the food, and then I realized that the food was not even ordered. When I asked when the main dish would arrive, I was told that it hadn't even been ordered, which turned out to be a good thing because I realized that the portions were really huge and there was no way I could eat it alone and it would be a shame to throw it away. So I decided to order pork tacos with red onions, which arrived quite quickly and were delicious. We chatted with the waiters to see what other beer they would recommend for us to try while in Malaga, and they recommended that we must try their local brewed in Malaga, Victoria Malaga, which we decided to try next time. This whole lunch cost us 43 euros, which is quite a reasonable price considering that we were eating in a restaurant in the very center of Malaga.
After lunch we decided to walk a little more through the center of Malaga to try to find the beer that was recommended to us in the restaurant and head to the marina to enjoy the sun and the sea. So we managed to find the beer in the first market we came across and sat down on a bench by the sea, looking at the ships that were moored here and enjoying the smell of the sea. A little before 5 o'clock we headed to the northern part of the marina where we saw earlier that day that there was a sunset cruise that we decided to go on. The price of the cruise, including a glass of sparkling wine, was 18 euros per person. We bought tickets and settled on the deck of the ship. The cruise was amazing, the temperature was around 17 degrees celsius, a warm breeze was blowing, we were enjoying the view of the sunset with a glass of sparkling wine in hand, and the hits of the 2000's singing in the background. The cruise lasted about 1 hour and I must admit it was worth the money. So highly recommend this cruise if you are going to Malaga, especially the sunset cruise. After the end of the cruise, we decided to head to the hotel, rest a bit and get ready to go to dinner and of course see how the city is decorated for Advent, that is, New Year and Christmas. To our disappointment, when we arrived at the hotel, our room was still very cold, despite the fact that the guys from the technical service managed to close the window. So we had to call the reception to increase the heating. We managed to take a short rest, get ready, change clothes and headed back to the city center. Now it was a completely different experience, we could feel the spirit of the Christmas holidays that we couldn't capture during the day as it was quite warm and we were walking around in short sleeves. The city center was quite nicely decorated and there was a huge mass of people who came to experience the Christmas spirit here.
For dinner we decided to head to a fast food place for a quick bite to eat since we weren't really that hungry considering we'd been snacking all day. Right next to the main promenade for Advent, we came across a fast food TGB Malaga Larios (the good burger) in which we decided to sit down and eat. It's about McDonald's style fast food. We ordered a small draft beer each and ordered their TGB burger, which was delicious.
After we finished dinner, we walked a little more through the city center and absorbed the beautiful scenery around us. The night always captures another dimension, a different side of the city, and thanks to it you either fall in love with a city or it helps you realize that it is not as beautiful as you thought. Malaga did not disappoint us in any respect, the night was as beautiful and attractive as the day, in fact the fact that we visited in the month of December and could see it in that pre-New Year euphoria only added to the fact that this city has definitely become one of my favorite cities and destinations to which I certainly plan to return again. Around 22:30 we decided to head to our hotel in order to go to the hotel's rooftop bar. In fact, the reason why we chose this hotel over all the others in Malaga, among which there were many cheaper ones, was this bar and the swimming pool on the roof of the hotel, as well as the beautiful view that this bar offers.
